African Caribbean Heritage Camp

#MondayMotivationFull – Another weekend, another location 💖 The African Caribbean Heritage Camp for Adoptive Families is truly a magical experience for all involved. The definition of Black Joy 🙌🏾 It’s been an honor to teach/present at this camp for years – this time, retreat style with a whole 4 days in Estes Park 🎉 These incredible adoptee kiddos get to have so much (additional) love and affirmation poured into them and be in community with one another. Their adoptive white parents/familes also get to be enriched and educated as well so they can be the best allies for these beautiful young people. It’s honestly one of those “you have to be there” kind of experiences to fully understand the impact. Hundreds of families from all over. Wow. 😍

I had such a blast, met some wonderful people, spent time with familiar faces, inspired (and had sooo much fun) with so many young people interested in the arts and the STEP show my high school students put on (in addition to the dope steps I had them create on their own) were beyond 🔥 our Saturday night all-camp party was so lit too 🤣 Much gratitude for these students, this camp, the families, the organizers, and being able to bring some extra light & love to all! 🎉 One of my favorite student quotes this time (of the many) – from a young student I didn’t even teach but we just had a wonderful conversation lol was – “Can I bring you to show and tell for my school!?” 🤣😭 omg. Any. Time. 💖🙌🏾👑#BlackJoy #BlackExcellence #BlackBrilliance #ItsAWrap #Umuja #Unity #AfricanCaribbeanHeritageCamp2022
